What should we do about Social Security ?

Hi Everyone..

What should be done about social security ? Your opinion ?

Social Security must be protected and guaranteed by the US Government. It is not an a give away program. People pay into this fund and the money belongs to them. It is the only source of retirement income for many Americans. To deny these benefits to seniors should be considered a crime.

I agree with you ! I remember when I was in my 20's I thought Social
Security was a savings account, boy was I wrong ! When I found out
years later I was shocked ! My biggest fear is that the Govt. will do like
Greece and start cutting benefits ,I did read on one site that their thinking
of raising the retirement age to 70 and maybe 80, probably with the hopes
that the next generation ready to collect in the next 30 years will drop dead
before they can get their hands on it ! Another thing they do is if you die before
collecting, it goes back to the Govt., I think this is a fraud, you paid into it and the
law should be what's left in your account should go to your estate, fair is fair you
paid into it.....We have to send a letter to both parties with signatures...

I believe part of the problem is with the word, "social" and "security". There's nothing social about it and there is certainly no security when they threaten to take it away.
To deny any citizen their liveliihood is a crime against humanity.
